Artists, teachers, & co-founders Kyle & Beth Bultman have brought educational programs to thousands of students through an extensive residency, grant projects, and with Young Audiences. Also co-founders of Scor! and Synkros, Kyle & Beth serve in artistic, educational, and administrative capacities. Both Kyle & Beth hold Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Eastman School of Music.
Artist & CEO
As a member of the Genesis String Quartet, Mr. Bultman has brought educational presentations to well over 15,000 school children in western Kentucky and upstate New York. The ensemble gave several formal concert series, and participated in a residency in Madisonville, KY, a grant project in Rochester, NY, and served as artists affiliated with Young Audiences. His education includes Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (graduating with honors) in Violin Performance & Literature from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.
For over a decade, Kyle has served as teacher, artist, & CEO of Scor!, a thriving string experience for adults that he founded along with his wife Beth Bultman. Scor! began as a small local workshop and now has been a pioneering force in adult string education for over a decade, offering a dozen string camps for adults around the country every year. Kyle has presented dozens of sessions and led several ensembles each year as a part of Scor! Kyle also taught at Roberts Wesleyan College, directed its Community Music School, and founded its Chamber Orchestra, a touring ensemble.
Kyle’s unique abilities as a performer include his diversity of styles, flexibility, and ability as an improviser. He has premiered numerous new compositions with his ensembles, many at Scor! through the years. His students appreciate him as kind & patient, bringing out the best in musical expression.
Artist & Program Director
Beth Bultman is an active violinist, performer, composer, teacher, and administrator. She has brought educational presentations to thousands of school children, participating in a residency in Madisonville, KY, a grant project in Rochester, NY, and as an artist affiliated with Young Audiences. She studied violin performance, pedagogy, and composition at the Eastman School of Music where she earned Bachelors & Masters degrees.
As a college professor, Beth has taught string methods, string pedagogy, chamber music, and violin lessons at Roberts Wesleyan College, Houghton College, and Binghamton University. She ran a private studio for students of all ages for over 15 years.
Beth has presented several sessions for teachers at state and national conferences, including the American String Teachers Association National Conference (2008 & 2009), MENC Eastern Division Conference (2009), New York State School Music Association Conference (2008), and the Ohio Music Educators National Conference (2009). Her article, “Unlocking Your Mind to Spark a Positive String Performance”, was published by Strings Magazine in July, 2010.
Beth co-founded Scor!, offering inspiring string camps for adults. Serving as Program Director and String Faculty Member, she has organized over 10 years of Scor! events, and has traveled extensively, putting on 12 Scor! events each year. Ms. Bultman has taught, coached, and presented dozens of sessions with Scor!.
As a performer, Ms. Bultman is comfortable with many styles, but specializes in classical, Celtic fiddle, sacred contemporary, and improvisational, as well as frequently performing her own compositions. She has taken masterclasses with fiddling giants Darol Anger, Mark O’Connor , Natalie McMaster , and Jeremy Kittle (Turtle Island Quartet ). Beth and her husband Kyle have performed all over the country in recent years, and are known for their unusual ability to perform unique free improvisation duos, requested again and again by audience members.
